Privacy Policy

Who we are

Bloomline ("we", "us") is a free web app at bloomline.app that shows what's flowering along a driving route. This policy explains what personal information we handle and why.

What we collect

• Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your display name, profile photo, and a unique account identifier (UID). Your email address is used by Google to authenticate you; we use it only to recognize you and for account-related contact.
• Content you create. The field notes and links you post, and — only if you choose to add one — an approximate location for a sighting. Locations are deliberately rounded (to roughly 100 meters) before they are saved.
• Technical data. Our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase) may automatically process standard technical information such as device/browser type and approximate connection region for security and reliability. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use it

• To display your field notes and links, attributed to your display name.
• To operate community features such as the map of recent sightings.
• To keep the service safe — for example, reviewing content that other users report.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

What's public

Anything you post — your field notes, links, chosen display name, and any location pin — is visible to everyone, including people who are not signed in. Please don't include personal or sensitive information in a note.

Location

Adding a location to a sighting is always optional and off by default. When you opt in, your device's coordinates are rounded to roughly 100 meters before being stored, so a pin points to a neighborhood, not your exact spot. Please do not pin the precise location of rare, endangered, or protected plants — coarse or omitted locations help protect them from collection.

Who we share it with

• Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore database) stores your account and content on our behalf. Google's handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
• Plant photo sources (iNaturalist, Wikimedia Commons, Encyclopedia of Life) are queried to show plant images. These requests do not include your personal information.
• We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of people or the service.

How long we keep it

Your content stays until you delete it or delete your account. When you delete a note it is removed; when you delete your account we remove your notes and links and delete your sign-in record.

Your choices and rights

• Edit or delete any note or link you posted, from within the app.
• Delete your account and all associated content using "Delete my account & data" in the app.
• Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or export your data, or to object to certain processing. Contact us to make a request.

Children

Bloomline is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where required), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app.
